Odisha: In Odisha, the nation's first resettlement colony will be constructed. These individuals will be relocated to this colony in Satbhaya, Kendrapada district, as a result of coastline erosion and climate change. Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, approved ₹22.5 crore for the colony's initial phase of development at Bagapatia. According to the Chief Minister's Office on Sunday, 'CM Patnaik sanctioned ₹22.5 crore for the first phase development of the colony in Bagapatia, it will be a part of the state government's Adarsha Colony plan.'

The money will be used to build homes, drinking water systems etc

According to officials, the money will be used to build homes, drinking water systems, electrical connections, roads, and other infrastructure for the displaced people. According to the CMO Odisha Tweet, 'The Chief Minister Shri @Naveen_Odisha has sanctioned ₹22 Crores for the development of Satbhaya Baghpati Thithan Colony as a Model Colony. #5T Secretary Shri VK Pandian during his two-day visit to Kendrapara visited the area to meet the displaced people and discuss their problems.'

Instructions given to upgrade the local Panchubarahi Shrine's infrastructure

The CM Patnaik has also instructed the Tourism Department to upgrade the local Panchubarahi Shrine's infrastructure, enhance its appearance, and promote it as a top tourist attraction. This is the first colony in the nation for the resettlement of people impacted by climate change. As a result of the impact of climate change, the affected people are being relocated in Baghpatia as the Satbhaya region has been drowned in the sea owing to erosion.
