Ola: CEO Bhavish Aggarwal Harasses Workers for Minor Offenses. Reports

Ola: According to a report, Ola employees claim that founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal’s aggressive and abrasive behaviour at work alienated staff and disgruntled board members.
Several interviews with more than two dozen current and former Ola Electric employees who wished to remain anonymous revealed that the workplace environment has deteriorated over the past few years.

Current and former employees allege that Mr. Aggarwal frequently labelled teams “useless” in meetings, tore up presentations due to a missing page number, and used profane Punjabi language at personnel.

Meetings that were supposed to last an hour frequently only lasted 10, according to the report’s employees, because Mr. Aggarwal would become impatient about the spelling of a memo’s sentence, a paper clip that was bent, or the calibre of the printing paper.

Mr. Aggarwal says, “not everyone is a fit for our culture.”

When asked about his managerial approach, Mr. Aggarwal told Bloomberg that “not everyone is a fit for our culture.” “There is no global norm for a uniform, tidy workplace.”

Cruel punishments for small mistakes

According to the article, in one instance he allegedly asked a worker to do three laps around the several-acre-large Ola Futurefactory, which is advertised as the largest electric two-wheeler plant in the world. The cause was a closed door that ought to have been left open.

According to Mr. Aggarwal, he wants to create businesses that have a lasting influence, even if it offends some individuals in the process.

In a recent interview at Ola Electric’s posh offices in Bengaluru, Aggarwal said, “Passions and emotions run high and we are not on an easy trip.” “However, I don’t want to pick an easier route for Ola or for myself. I am entirely my rage and frustration.”

Retaining staff, especially at the top management level, is the result. Ramesh Bafna, the former Chief Financial Officer of Zilingo, was one among the executives who made the decision not to work for Ola Electric days after publicly accepting job offers, the report said.
Employees complain that Mr. Aggarwal’s unrelenting pace and management style is a frustrating problem.
The 37-year-old has lofty goals for Ola Electric, which include competing with companies like Tesla and BYD Company of China and Elon Musk’s Tesla.
