In a major reform aimed at ensuring transparency and passenger convenience, the Government of India has introduced the ‘One Route, One Fare’ initiative for its airlines. Under this policy, ticket prices on specific routes will remain fixed — regardless of when the booking is made — giving travelers freedom from fluctuating airfares.
According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the move is designed to promote the ease of flying by offering predictable and fair ticket pricing, especially on popular domestic routes. The initiative is expected to benefit passengers who often face steep fare hikes during peak seasons or last-minute travel plans.
Passenger-Friendly Policy
A senior official from the ministry stated, “The objective is to give passengers freedom from the stress of fluctuating airfares and promote ease of flying in the country.” The decision is part of a broader government strategy to make air travel more affordable, reliable, and inclusive for all sections of society.
Boost to Domestic Connectivity
The ‘One Route, One Fare’ scheme is also expected to encourage more frequent flyers, stabilize demand across routes, and improve seat utilization for government-operated airlines.
