Opposition Unity Meet In Patna

Opposition Unity Meet In Patna: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar and the leader of the JD(U), invited the opposition parties on Friday for a major conference to forge an alliance ahead of the vital elections to defeat the BJP in 2024.

The parties have been fighting among themselves and have similar interests. By claiming that there was no agreement among them over the prime ministerial nominee, the BJP has been attempting to draw attention to the opposition front’s predicament.

Even on the day of the meeting, the BJP didn’t pass up the chance to make that point.

“Suna hai Nitish ji barat saja rahe hai Patne me (Nitish is readying a barat in Patna). Barat me dulha bhi hota hai na? Par is 2024 ka dulha kaun hai? (But who is the groom in this barat),” asked BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad.

“Sabhi pradhan mantri pad ke dawedar hai (Everyone is contending for the prime minister’s post),” he added.

There were others besides Ravi Shankar Prasad as well. Sushil Kumar Modi, a BJP MP and leader in Bihar, made the joke “Sab dulhe hain, baaraati koi nahin hai” on Friday in response to the gathering of opposition leaders in Patna.

All of the leaders present in Nitish Kumar’s meeting, according to Sushil Modi, were “projecting themselves as contenders” for the position of prime minister.

“Nitish ji ne aisi baaraat lagai hai, jisme sab dulhe hain. Everyone is busy making others accept their conditions… Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal is joining the meeting along with the Congress, but will he forge a seat-sharing pact with the grand old party in Delhi and Punjab?,” ANI quoted the BJP leader as saying.
