New Update
Special Parliamentary Session

As Parliament staff prepares to transition to the new Parliament building for the upcoming special session starting on September 18, they will be donning new uniforms with an 'Indian' touch. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has designed these uniforms, which will feature Nehru jackets, deep pink shirts with a lotus flower design, and khaki-colored pants.

  • The traditional bureaucrats' bandhgala suits will be replaced with magenta or deep pink Nehru jackets.
  • The shirts will match the deep pink color of the jackets and will incorporate a lotus flower design.
  • The staff will wear khaki-colored pants as part of their new uniform.

The attire of the marshals in both houses of Parliament will also see changes. They will wear Manipuri turbans as part of their new uniform.

Security Personnel Uniform Change:
Even the security personnel stationed at the Parliament building will undergo uniform changes. Instead of safari suits, they will be outfitted in camouflage dresses, similar to military attire.

Special Parliament Session Details:

  • The special session of Parliament will commence on September 18 and initially take place in the old building.
  • A formal entry into the new Parliament building is scheduled for September 19, coinciding with the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, following a small 'pooja.'
  • The new Parliament building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28, 2023.
  • The session will consist of five sittings, and members will be informed about the provisional calendar separately.

The introduction of new uniforms for Parliament staff, along with changes in attire for marshals and security personnel, accompanies the inauguration of the new Parliament building, signifying an 'Indian' touch to the transition. The special parliamentary session, set to begin on September 18, adds to the significance of these uniform changes.
