Pawan Khera: Supreme Court has granted interim bail to senior Congress leader Pawan Khera who was arrested earlier today from the Delhi airport. The Congress had then moved to Supreme Court to oppose the bail, while Assam Police opposed the pre-arrest bail.
Assam police had confirmed Pawan Khera’s arrest and played the video in which Khera referred to the prime minister as Narendra ‘Gautam Das’ Modi. Singhvi, who was presenting Khera in the court, told Supreme Court that the Congress leader had already apologised for his mistake.

‘It’s a long fight, I’m ready’
Pawan Khera, upon his arrest, said “It’s a long battle, I’m ready to fight.” Other Congress leaders, meanwhile, organised a sit-in at the Delhi airport opposing the arrest.
“Today, our senior leaders were travelling from Delhi to Raipur on an Indigo flight. They had all boarded the flight when our leader @Pawankhera Ji was asked to disembark from it & later arrested. This is UNDEMOCRATIC. We vehemently OPPOSE this dictatorial behaviour,” Congress said in a tweet.
Pawan Khera deboarded from IndiGo flight
Khera was deplaned earlier this morning from an IndiGo flight. The Congress leader was a part of party delegation which was bound to Raipur.
IndiGo released a statement on Thursday and said the passenger was deplaned by the police and it is following the advice of concerned authorities.
“The flight is delayed as of now and we regret the inconvenience caused to other passenger. A passenger was deplaned by the police at the Delhi airport from Raipur-bound flight 6E 204. Some other passengers have also decided to deboard on their own accord,” it added.
