Farmers in the district have the opportunity to benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025-26 season, with the last date for enrollment set as July 31, 2025.
Farmers in the District Can Avail PM Crop Insurance Scheme for Kharif 2025-26 Till July 31
According to the Deputy Director of Agriculture, under this season’s notification, four major crops—paddy (rice), maize, bajra (pearl millet), and urad (black gram)—have been included for insurance coverage.
The scheme aims to protect farmers against potential crop losses
The scheme aims to protect farmers against potential crop losses due to natural calamities, pests, and diseases, ensuring financial stability and encouraging sustainable farming practices. All eligible farmers, especially those who have taken crop loans, are urged to enroll before the deadline to secure their produce.
Authorities have also advised farmers to visit the nearest agriculture department office, CSC (Common Service Centres), or bank branches to complete their registration in time.
This initiative falls under the government’s continued effort to strengthen rural livelihoods and reduce the economic impact of unpredictable weather patterns on agriculture.
Premium and Coverage Details
Farmers are required to pay only a nominal premium, typically 2% of the sum insured for Kharif crops, while the remaining premium is subsidized by the Central and State governments. This makes the scheme highly affordable and accessible, even for small and marginal farmers.
In case of crop failure due to defined risks, insured farmers are eligible for timely compensation, which will be directly credited to their linked bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Officials Urge Timely Enrollment
Speaking on the importance of the scheme, the Deputy Director stated, “The PMFBY is not just insurance, it’s a safety net for our farmers. With increasing climate variability, insurance is no longer optional—it's essential. We encourage all farmers to take advantage of this scheme before July 31 to secure their income.”
