PM Modi in Karnataka
Ahead of Assembly Elections in Karnataka, which are scheduled to take place in May, PM Modi held a roadshow in the Mandya region which has been a strong hold of Janata Dal (Secular) or JDS.
PM Modi laid the foundation stones of projects worth rs 16,000 crores and inaugurated the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. The expressway is a 118 km long six-lane project of the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysuru section of NH-27 which has been developed at a total cost of Rs 8,480 crore.
PM Modi takes a dig at Congress
During his roadshow, PM Modi also took a dig at Congress over its ‘Modi Teri Kabar Khudegi’ jibe and said the party is dreaming of digging his own grave while he is busy easing people’s lives in the country.
“Congress is dreaming of ‘digging Modi’s grave’ but they don’t know that blessings of mothers, sisters and people of the country work as protection shield for me. They (Congress) leaders are busy dreaming of ‘digging Modi’s grave’ while I’m is busy in building Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway and improving the lives of poor,” PM Modi said.
Karnataka Assembly Elections
BJP recently appointed Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai as the chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign committee for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka. Previously, former chief minister BS Yediyurappa was heading the committee. With the recent move, the BJP aims to reduce BS Yediyurappa’s influence who is now 80 years of age and start afresh.
“It is no secret in the party that BL Santosh and Yediyurappa have their differences. The RSS faction wants control over the functioning of the party, but they are aware that Yediyurappa is crucial for the party’s victory. The praises showered by the leaders were part of massaging his (Yediyurappa’s) ego, but when it came to the big decision the BL Santosh camp wanted their appointee there,” said a senior BJP legislator.
