PM Modi inaugurates 35 PSA oxygen plants in event at AIIMS Rishikesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated 35 pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants established under the PM CARES fund across 35 States and Union Territories in an event at AIIMS Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.

With this, all districts of the country will now have commissioned PSA oxygen plants, the PMO has said.

Addressing a gathering, Modi asserted that the Centre has been extending all help to the state government for Uttarakhand’s progress, and said this “double engine” of development will take it to new heights.

With the new plants, over 1,150 oxygen plans funded by PM CARES are working and every district in the country has now been covered by them, he said.

Operations and maintenance of these plants have been ensured by training more than 7,000 personnel. They come with an embedded Internet of Things (IoT) device for real-time monitoring of their functioning and performance through a consolidated web portal, said PMO.

During the launch, PM Modi also spoke about the Covid-19 vaccination drive in India, calling it the “world’s fastest”. He said that India has already completed over 93 crore vaccine jabs. He added that “We’ll cross 100-crore vaccination mark soon, CoWIN has shown the world how an exercise of this scale is done.”

After the inauguration of the life-saving plants, PM Modi said that India is strengthening its medical infrastructure so that none of the citizens of the country ever face oxygen crisis and the country will be able to battle the Covid pandemic. PM Modi said that the centre has made efforts to make sure that no life should be lost due to the lack of oxygen and these plants will ensure continuous supply to the country.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya were also present on the occasion and hailed Modi’s efforts in boosting health infrastructure across the country.

Prime Minister’s visit to Uttarkhand holds huge significance ahead of the assembly elections in 2022.
