PM Modi to distribute appointment letters at Rozgar Mela on May 16

The next edition of the Rozgar Mela will be held on May 16 across 22 states, according to officials, and the central government is in “mission mode” to fill job openings across its many ministries.

Over 70,000 appointment letters will be distributed to new hires as part of the employment drive by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference, they added.

In October of last year, the prime minister introduced the Rozgar Mela programme. The drive will take place in 45 centres on May 16. According to them, this would also mark the anniversary of the day the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, won the 2014 general elections.

The officials added that given that the government, which took office in 2019, is in its final year in office, the hiring process is probably going to speed up in the coming days. On October 22, 2022, the first Rozgar Mela was held.

On November 22, 2022, the second fair was held, and roughly 71,000 appointment letters were distributed. On January 20 and April 13, respectively, the third and fourth editions each distributed almost the same amount of appointment letters.

According to the officials, all ministries and departments are operating in “mission mode” to fill open positions. The Union ministers themselves, they said, are in charge of overseeing the appointments and filling of vacancies in each ministry.

Personnel from the Central Armed Police Force, inspectors, sub-inspectors, constables, clerks, stenographers, personal assistants, income tax inspectors, tax assistants, junior engineers, loco pilots, technicians, postal assistants, assistant professors, teachers, and librarians are just a few of the positions that have been filled so far through the fairs.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is also filling a sizable number of positions in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

The hiring is done through hiring organisations like the Railway Recruitment Board, SSC, and UPSC. For a quicker hiring process, selection procedures have been streamlined.
