On July 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate a newly built 318-room five-star hotel atop the renovated Gandhinagar railway station, as well as a number of other development projects in Gujarat.

In addition, he will virtually launch a train from Gandhinagar to Varanasi.

The reconstruction of Gandhinagar’s current railway station, as well as the construction of a five-star hotel on top of it, began in January 2017 after Modi laid the foundation stone.

The redevelopment project and the construction of the hotel started back in January 2017 after the Prime Minister performed a groundbreaking ceremony.

It is spread across 7,400 square meters and has been built at a cost of ₹790 crore, the government press release said. The hotel has been built to host national and international guests who would come for seminars and conferences at Mahatma Mandir, a convention centre, located right opposite the hotel.
