PM Modi Urges BJP Leaders to Connect with Muslim Sisters on Raksha Bandhan

PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested that BJP officials make an effort to connect with Muslim women during the forthcoming Raksha Bandhan festival, claiming that his government’s move to outlaw triple talaq has increased their sense of security overall.

Connecting with Minority Women on Raksha Bandhan

According to sources, Modi made the comments on Monday night at a meeting of the BJP-led NDA MPs from West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand. At the meeting, he and other senior BJP leaders highlighted numerous development initiatives of the federal government for various segments of society as the alliance prepared for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to those MPs present at the meeting, Modi stressed the need to interact with all facets of society before mentioning his government’s decision to outlaw speedy divorce among Muslim men. The act is now forbidden by the government. Some of the MPs in attendance at the meeting stated that the prime minister told them to create initiatives during Raksha Bandhan to connect with women from the minority group and that he claimed this decision has been a significant boost for Muslim women. This year’s Rakshan Bandhan holiday, which honours the relationship between brothers and sisters, falls on August 30.

From Triple Talaq Ban to Empowering Haj Pilgrims

In 2019, the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill was approved by Parliament, making instant triple talaq an offence that might result in a prison sentence for the husband. Modi has frequently emphasised the reforms his administration has made for Muslim women. In his most recent ‘Mann ki Baat’ address, he noted that the over 4,000 Muslim women who performed Haj this year without’mehram’ was a “huge transformation” and claimed that more and more people were getting the chance to go for the yearly pilgrimage thanks to changes made by his government in the Haj policy over the past few years. In his remarks to the MPs, he mentioned that the opposition parties were working to unite under the new name INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance), as their previous name UPA had been tarnished by a number of frauds. He predicted that no one would ever accept it. During the current Monsoon session of Parliament, the BJP has segmented the NDA MPs into clusters of close to 40 members according to area. Modi is anticipated to address each group separately. On Monday, the first two meetings took place. Additionally, he spoke to a group of approximately 45 NDA MPs from western Uttar Pradesh up to the Kanpur-Bundelkhand region. Speaking to a gathering of MPs from Uttar Pradesh, he claimed that the ruling coalition has been doing its best to help the nation and society while also earning the support of the populace. PM Modi urged MPs to spend as much time as possible engaging with the public and urging them to spread a positive message about the government’s activities. Despite changing its name from UPA to INDIA, the opposition alliance will still be unable to atone for its “sins of corruption and misgovernance,” he had claimed.
