PM Modi: According to I&B Minister Anurag Thakur, the national government increased the sugarcane Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) on Wednesday by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 315 per quintal for the 2023–24 season. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is where this choice was made. The sugarcane FRP last year was Rs 305 per quintal.

Government's Decision to Increase Sugarcane FRP

According to Thakur, the decision will help 5 crore sugarcane farmers, their dependents, and the 5 lakh workers working in sugar mills and related ancillary businesses. The government prioritises agriculture and farmers, he continued, and this rise in FRP is evidence of that. From Rs 210 per quintal in the 2014–15 season to the present Rs 315 per quintal for the 2023–24 season, the FRP has consistently gone up over time.
