PM Modi’s mother: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben Modi, died in the early hours of Friday. After her health deteriorated, she was admitted to Ahmedabad’s UN Mehta Hospital and later discharged.

“A glorious century rests at the feet of God… In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values,” the Prime Minister tweeted this morning informing his mother’s death. He also shared a photo of his mother.
PM Modi leaves for Ahmedabad
According to sources, PM Modi has left for Ahmedabad and may join the official programmes he was scheduled to attend via video conference.
“PM Modi has left for Ahmedabad, flagging off of Vande Bharat train in Howrah, Kolkata & other developmental works of railways and under Namami Gange and meeting of National Ganga Council to be held as per plan. PM Modi may join through Video Conference,” a source was quoted as saying.
About PM Modi’s mother
Heeraben used to live in Raysan village, near Gandhinagar, with Pankaj Modi, the Prime Minister’s younger brother. PM Modi used to pay her a visit during most of his trips to Gujarat.
He visited his mother on Wednesday afternoon along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre said in a bulletin, “Smt. Hiraba Modi passed away on 30/12/2022 at 3.30 am (early morning) during the treatment at UN Mehta Heart hospital.”
Home Minister Amit Shah mourns the loss
Union Home Minister Amit wrote, “I am sad to know about the demise of respected Mataji Hira Ba. Mother is the first friend and teacher of a person’s life, the pain of losing whom is undoubtedly the biggest pain in the world.”

PM Modi Mother age
PM Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi would had turned 100 in June 2023. PM Modi wrote a blog on his mother’s 99th birthday in June this year in which he described various aspects of her life which ‘shaped his mind, personality and self-confidence.’ In his blog titled ‘Mother’, he had written, ““Today, I feel extremely happy and fortunate to share that my mother Smt. Heeraba is entering her hundredth year. This is going to be her birth centenary year. If my father had been alive, he too would have celebrated his 100th birthday last week. 2022 is a special year as my mother’s centenary year is starting, and my father would have completed his.”
