PM Narendra Modi embarks on inaugural ride of Mumbai Aqua Line Metro, interacts with passengers

PM Narendra Modi: Mumbaikars finally have reason to cheer after years of waiting, as the Aqua Line, a third and first underground corridor of the Mumbai Metro, finally made its journey into the city on Saturday. It will start operating for the general public from 11 AM on Monday and is likely to bring a revolution in the way people travel across the city, as essential services and leisure rides get easier to avail.

A Milestone for Mumbai’s Transport Infrastructure

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the Aqua Line of the Mumbai Metro finally, with this movement being termed one of the biggest in the transport infrastructure in Mumbai. In the inaugural ceremony, he visited the luxurious facilities and launched the mobile app for "Metro Connect 3," hoping to make its services easy for the users. While traveling through the underground Metro, PM Modi interacted with students, representing the interactive and user-friendly features of the new service. Key leadership in attendance included Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and the Governor.

Aarey JVLR and BKC Set to Begin Operations

The Aqua Line would begin from both Aarey JVLR and Bandra-Kurla Complex on October 7. However, the last train would leave at 8.30 PM. Regular services would begin from 6:30 AM on 8th October and continue till 10:30 PM on weekdays and from 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM on Sundays. The fare of the Aqua Line Aarey-JVLR-BKC section is between Rs 10 and Rs 50. Hence it will prove affordable for the daily masses to move with this.

The Aqua Line-the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz line has started operations on an initial 12.44 km stretch with ten stations, in a bid to serve 50,000 commuters daily. Ninety trains will run on this route with eight coaches, out of which 96 trips will be there daily. For a new route, this is a giant leap forward for the public transport that Mumbai has ever seen, with reduced travel times and so much connectivity across the city.
