Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates International Kushinagar Airport

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated International Kushinagar airport. He said that India is the center of faith of Buddhist society. Along with this, the foundation stone of various development projects is also to be laid. The Prime Minister will also participate in a function organized on ‘Abhidhamma Divas’ at Kushinagar Mahaparinirvana Temple.

Kushinagar is an international Buddhist pilgrimage site where the Mahaparinirvana of Lord Gautam Buddha took place. On the occasion of the inauguration of Kushinagar International Airport, a plane from Colombo, Sri Lanka landed there, in which more than 100 Buddhist monks and other officials were involved.

In his address, PM Modi said that India is the center of faith and belief of Buddhist society. Modi said that today Kushinagar has been connected with the world. Everyone is developing with everyone. Modi further said that the airport will not only promote tourism. Farmers, livestock farmers, small businessmen. will also benefit from this. New employment opportunities will be available. PM said that in the coming three to four years, there is an effort to set up a network of more than 200 airports, seapods in the country.

Under the UDAN scheme, more than 900 new routes have been approved in the last few years, out of which air service has started on more than 350. More than 50 new airports or those which were not in service earlier have been made operational.

In the program before the PM, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told that the direct flight from Delhi to Kushinagar will start from November 26. After that on December 18, Kushinagar will be connected with Mumbai and Kolkata.

The Kushinagar International Airport has been built at a cost of Rs 260 crore in collaboration with the Central and State Governments. In this, the terminal is spread over 3 thousand 600 square meters. The new terminal will facilitate the movement of 300 passengers during rush hour.

The runway of Kushinagar International Airport is 3.2 km long and 45 meters wide, which is the longest runway in UP. Its runway can handle 8 flights every hour.

It was declared an international airport on 24 June 2020. There will be direct flights from this airport to South Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. Travelers coming here can visit Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath and Kushinagar. Along with this, the journey of Shravasti, Kaushambi, Sankisha, Rajgir and Vaishali will also be done in less time.

After inaugurating the airport, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the Government Medical College here. This medical college, being built at a cost of Rs 280 crore, will have 500 beds. In this, admissions of 100 MBBS students will start from 2022-23. Apart from this, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 12 more development projects worth Rs 180 crore in Kushinagar.
