Prime Minister Narendra Modi has joined WhatsApp Channels, a recently launched feature on the social media platform. WhatsApp Channels provide a private way for users to receive updates, and this feature was introduced by WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, in India and over 150 other countries.
In his first post on WhatsApp Channels, Prime Minister Modi expressed his excitement about joining the WhatsApp community. He stated, "Thrilled to join the WhatsApp community! WhatsApp Channels is designed as a one-way broadcast tool that allows individuals and organizations to share updates privately with their followers. These updates are delivered within WhatsApp, making it a convenient platform for disseminating information.
One of the key features of WhatsApp Channels is privacy. The list of channels that a user chooses to follow is not visible to other followers, ensuring that the user's preferences remain confidential.
WhatsApp has introduced an enhanced directory to help users discover and follow channels. The directory automatically filters channels based on the user's country. Users can also explore new, highly active, and popular channels based on the number of followers.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the global rollout of WhatsApp Channels, emphasizing the goal of building the most private broadcast service available. WhatsApp Channels are separate from traditional chats and can be accessed through the new "Updates" tab within the app.
Prime Minister Modi's presence on WhatsApp Channels is expected to enhance his direct communication with the public and provide updates on important developments and initiatives.
