Protest Against WFI Ex-Chief: Indian Wrestlers Breakdown As They Return To Jantar Mantar

In January, when India’s legendary wrestler reached Jantar Mantar in the cold winter, the whole country was shocked. Veteran players like Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik had made several serious allegations, including sexual harassment, against Indian Wrestling Federation president Brij Bhushan Sharan and coach.

Immediately after this the inquiry committee was formed. The inquiry committee also prepared its report, but the wrestlers participating in the dharna were not told about it. Due to this he got disappointed and now again reached Jantar Mantar.

What did the wrestlers say this time?

Wrestlers who came to sit on dharna on Sunday (April 23) accused the Sports Ministry of reneging on their promises. Wrestlers said that the government has cheated them, they were assured of action in a month but now even after three months the investigation report has not been made public. Also said that the assurance given by the government to the wrestlers turned out to be false. The government has cheated the wrestlers.

Wrestlers also shed tears

Athletes who won medals for India also shed tears. Sakshi and Vinesh cry. She said that wrestlers are now being called liars, while she is fighting the battle of truth. Till no decision comes, he will again continue the sit-in demonstration. Wrestlers said WFI is powerful so will they not get justice?

The demonstration of the wrestlers lasted for three days in January. The wrestlers called off the strike after talks with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. At that time, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was temporarily removed from the post of the President of the Wrestling Association and a committee was formed to investigate the allegations against him.

Sports Minister had formed a monitoring committee

On January 23, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur constituted a monitoring committee under the leadership of MC Mary Kom to investigate. In which Commander Rajesh Rajagopalan, Radhika Sriman, Babita Phogat, Yogeshwar Dutt and Trupti Murugunde were included.
