‘Quit INDIA’ PM Modi Targets Opposition at Railways’ Mega Event; Takes on with Fiery Jibe

PM Modi: During the Railways’ mega revamp event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering assault on the Opposition, declaring that the time has come for “corruption, dynasty, and appeasement to quit India.”

Following the foundation stone laying ceremony for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations, PM Modi delivered a sharp rebuke. He drew a connection to the historic Quit India Movement, which commenced on August 9, 1942, and emphasized how it had ignited a renewed energy for India’s independence. and was resolute in eradicating all evils that exist within the country.

What did PM Modi say during event?

PM Narendra Modi stated, “There is just one voice everywhere – Corruption, Quit India. Dynasty, Quit India. Appeasement, Quit India.” Adding further, he said, “The country built a modern Parliament building. Parliament is the symbol of the country’s democracy. It has representation from the Ruling side as well as the Opposition. But this faction of the Opposition opposed the new Parliament building.”

Continuing further, he said, “For 70 years, they didn’t even build a war memorial for the Bravehearts of the country. When we built the National War Memorial, they felt no shame in criticising it publically. But rising above negative politics, we are going ahead on the path of positive politics as a mission.”

Speaking virtually at the event after initiating the foundation for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations nationwide, the Prime Minister made a direct accusation against the Opposition, stating that they engage in “negative politics.” PM Modi further alleged that a faction of the Opposition operates on the principle of obstructing not only their own work but also preventing others from working efficiently.

Massive redevelopment of Indian Railways

As per the Prime Minister’s Office, these 508 stations are distributed across 27 states and union territories, with significant numbers in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan (55 each), Bihar (49), Maharashtra (44), West Bengal (37), Madhya Pradesh (34), Assam (32), Odisha (25), Punjab (22), Gujarat and Telangana (21 each), Jharkhand (20), Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (18 each). Additionally, there are 15 stations in Haryana and 13 in Karnataka.

The estimated cost for the comprehensive redevelopment is Rs 24,470 crore. The project aims to enhance passenger experience by providing modern amenities, improving traffic flow, facilitating inter-modal integration, and incorporating well-designed signage for passenger guidance. The statement from the PMO highlighted that the station buildings’ design will draw inspiration from local culture, heritage, and architecture.
