Rahul Gandhi condoles Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s death in a letter to Chirag

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday expressed grief over at the passing away of Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan in a letter ot his son and Lok Janashakti Party(LJP) chief Chirag Paswan.

In his letter, Rahul mentioned the veteran leader’s impact on India as well as Bihar politics.

“Dear Chirag, I am deeply saddened by the sudden demise of your father Shri Ram Vilas Paswan. We have lost a veteran leader who left a lasting imprint on politics and public service in both Bihar and our nation,” Mr Gandhi said in the letter.

He emphasised that former leader’s social justice enduring legacy will have a long lasting impact on the generations to come.

“His unwavering commitment to social justice and equality is particularly relevant in these times. His enduring legacy will continue to inspire people dedicated to public service,” he wrote.

He further added that in his career spanning over five decades, he “gave voice” to “poor and vulnerable”.

“In an illustrious public life spanning over five decades, he gave voice to the most marginalised sections of our society and defended the rights of the poor and the vulnerable. As member of Parliament and Union Minister, he voiced their interests and concerns with passion,” Gandhi said in his letter.

“My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Ram Vilas Paswan died at the age of 74 in a Delhi hospital on Thursday. The former minister had been in hospital since September 11, undergoing a heart surgery on October 4.

“His unwavering commitment to social justice and equality is particularly relevant in these times. His enduring legacy will continue to inspire people dedicated to public service,” he wrote.
