Rahul Gandhi: On Tuesday, Congressman Rahul Gandhi visited the Golden Temple for a second day. Rahul Gandhi served langar when he arrived at Sri Harmandir Sahib in the morning. On Monday, Rahul Gandhi paid a personal visit to Amritsar and offered prayers at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Like a typical worshipper, Rahul Gandhi bent his head at Sri Harmandir Sahib. He had a blue bandana knotted over his head. No Congress lawmaker was seen with him during this time because the visit was private.
Warm Welcome and Spiritual Offerings
However, as soon as word of Rahul Gandhi’s presence in Amritsar spread, hoardings and banners were up along the entire path from the airport to Sri Harmandir Sahib. At Sri Harmandir Sahib, Rahul Gandhi gave a presentation of Rumala Sahib. Rahul Gandhi also received Prasad in the form of a coloured handkerchief and Batashe on behalf of Sri Harmandir Sahib.

The Gandhi family, however, did not receive VIP treatment from SGPC. Rahul Gandhi visited Sri Akal Takht Sahib after offering his respects at Sri Harmandir Sahib, where he also washed the Sangat’s serving dishes. Rahul Gandhi’s connection with people is growing as the Lok Sabha elections approach.
