New Delhi: The Central Vista Avenue, which will be officially opened on September 8 along with the Rajpath neighbourhood, will now be known as “Kartavya Path.” The government’s extensive Central Vista redevelopment project, which includes the renovated Central Vista Avenue, is now complete as the landscaping work on both sides of Rajpath has been done.
This follows the government’s Friday announcement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will probably open the renovated Central Vista Avenue, which runs from Vijay Chowk to the India Gate, on September 8.
The redeveloped stretch, which is regarded as the most well-liked public area in the city, has 1.1 lakh square metres of red granite walkways with greenery all around, more than 133 light poles along the Rajpath, 4,087 trees, 114 contemporary signages, and stepped gardens.
This is the first project that has been completed under the Modi government’s ambitious Central Vista redevelopment plan.
“The work is over. The prime minister is likely to inaugurate the revamped avenue on Thursday,” an official said.
A move to make the Central Vista more pedestrian-friendly around-the-clock involved installing more than 900 light poles, including those in the gardens and along the Rajpath between the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the India Gate.
In total, eight amenity blocks and four pedestrian underpasses have been built along the stretch of 422 red granite benches.
New red granite walkways covering 1,10,457 square metres have been built along the Rajpath to replace the bajri sand that previously covered the ground.
On the Rajpath, there are 987 concrete bollards in total. In total, 1,490 manholes with a contemporary appearance have taken their place.
