The construction of the temple has started with Bhoomipujan. Devotees are jostling on this historic occasion from home to abroad. The celebration continues unabated. Diwali was celebrated from the Saryu Coast to the Ganges Ghats. When the construction of the grand and divine temple of Ramlala began, Ram Nagari was immersed in the celebration. After the wishes of the years were fulfilled, from saints to saints, the general public rose up. Women and children celebrated Diwali at the gate of Ramjanmabhoomi.

As the foundation laying ceremony marked a historic day and the end of a bitter past, people said. Bhakts said they felt construction of Ram temple would bring development not only to Ayodhya but also to the adjoining regions, as tourism will improve.

The road leading from Hanumangarhi to Naya Ghat wore an illuminated look in the evening, with several earthen lamps lit outside shops, houses, guest houses and dharamshalas. ‘Rangolis’ of all sizes, shapes and designs could be spotted out side homes and shops.

“Different bhajans (devotional song) emanating from different temples of the city in the evening added a spiritual feeling to the atmosphere. Bhajans were also sung in various households located in the vicinity of Tulsi Udyaan, along with playing of dholaks and manjheeras Rajat Singh, a local, said.

“The day will undoubtedly be a special not only in the history of Ayodhya, but also in the life of each and every resident of the temple town,” he said.
