Republic Day 2023: The security measures have been increased in advance of Republic Day celebrations in the national capital on January 26, and this would probably make it more difficult for Delhi residents to go. The Republic Day parade will cause several metros to stay closed, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Additionally, parking in the metro will be shut down for a while.

New metro update for Republic Day 2023

All metro parking lots will be blocked between the hours of 6 a.m. on January 25 and 2 p.m. on January 26, according to the DMRC notice. On January 25, the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line will operate in part.

The metro stations at Patel Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Central Secretariat, and Lok Kalyan Margin will be closed in the early morning. The entrance and exit areas of the Central Secretariat station and Udyog Bhawan will be closed on January 26 till 12 p.m. Only line 2 and line 6 transfers are possible for passengers at the Central Secretariat station. Additionally, Lok Kalyan Marg and Patel Chowk stations’ entrances and exits would be closed from 8.45 am to 12 pm.

Metro services to be affected on 29th January

The Beating Retreat event will also have an impact on the metro services on January 29. The metro services at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations would be suspended during the Beating Retreat event from 2 pm to 6.30 pm, according to a statement from DMCR.

However, at the Central Secretariat station, travellers can switch from Line 2 to Line 6 and vice versa. Beginning at 6.30 p.m., metro services will be restored at all of these stations. The Delhi Metro will provide complimentary tickets to attendees of the 74th Republic Day programme at Kartavya Path on January 26, 2023, in order to make travel easier for those who have valid e-Invitation Cards/tickets.
