RSS Meeting Ignites Speculation! Will the Modi Government Introduce Women Reservation Bill?

Women's empowerment was a focus of the recently finished RSS Akhil Bharatiya Samanyay Baithak, which sparked rumours that the Women's Reservation Bill would be reintroduced at the upcoming special session of Parliament.

RSS: One of the main topics of discussion at the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Samanyay Baithak, which concluded on Saturday in Pune, was women’s empowerment. This sparked rumours that the Narendra Modi government might introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill during the special session of Parliament that will begin on Monday.

RSS Emphasizes Women’s Leadership Role

“Women should play a leading role. Therefore, Sangh inspired organisations will make efforts to increase participation of women in all fields,” RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Dr. Manmohan Vaidya said. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh top leaders, including RSS chairman Mohan Bhagwat, attended the three-day meeting. “This topic was discussed in the All India Coordination Meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh,” stated RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Dr. Manmohan Vaidya at the end of the meeting. JP Nadda, the president of the BJP, also came to the conference on the first day.

RSS Encourages Women’s Participation Across Industries

The RSS applauded women’s growing involvement in numerous industries. According to sources the subject was heavily explored as part of the Sangh’s Centenary Scheme. There were 246 representatives from 36 organisations present for Bhagwat’s speech, which marked the meeting’s conclusion. The Modi government could introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill for new negotiations as a result of this reinvigorated focus on women, which sparked political storms more than 1,000 kilometres away from Pune, where the meeting was place.

A Renewed Push Amidst Political Controversy

The proposed law will reserve 33% of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures for women. The Deve Gowda-led United Front government first submitted it as the 81st Amendment Bill in the lower chamber of Parliament back in 1996. However, during the coalition era, the House did not approve it. The Bill expired in the lower house despite being approved by the Rajya Sabha in 2010 when the UPA was in power. The women’s quota has the support of the Congress, TMC, and BRS, but several parties from the Hindi heartland have vehemently opposed it. The BJP government in power at the national level is aware of the influence that women voters have. The Ladli Behna Yojna was started by the Madhya Pradesh party, and on a national level, the government reduced the cost of LPG cylinders by Rs 200 and added 75 lakh new recipients to the Ujjwala Yojana. The measure has gained attention as a result of the political dispute surrounding the RSS’s discussion of “women’s role in society” 48 hours prior to the extraordinary session of Parliament.
