S Jaishankar Reacts On BBC Docuseries On PM Modi

Indian Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar questioned the controversial BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British entrepreneur George Soros’ comment and said its timing was not ‘accidental’. He said that this is the politics of those people who do not have the courage to enter the political arena openly.

S Jaishankar said in a special conversation with news agency ANI on Tuesday, ‘Do you think its timing is accidental? Don’t know whether the election season has started in India or not, but it has definitely started in London and New York. This politics belongs to those people, who do not have the courage to enter the political arena.

‘Haven’t seen any documentary on 1984’

Along with this, he raises the question, ‘Why is there a sudden surge in such reports and mentions? Were some of these things not happening before? You want to make a documentary. But in 1984 a lot happened in Delhi. Why haven’t we seen any documentary on him?’

He says, ‘Don’t pretend to be innocent. This politics belongs to those people who do not have the courage to enter the political field. They want Teflon cover by saying that I am an NGO, media organization but they are doing politics.

‘Attempt to tarnish the image of PM Modi’

The External Affairs Minister said that there has been a sudden increase in reports and views maligning India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent past, but the verdict of the people will clear all misconceptions.

S Jaishankar said, ‘You don’t look at incident after incident. Think of the past few years – an episode here, an adjective there, a picture… It is like a drop on a stone, a continuous drip… The aim is to shape an image, to make you look like That you looked extremist… We had seen difficult times during Covid… You see our coverage of Covid. Have people not died in other countries? Did we see that coverage, did you see pictures like that from other countries?

Referring to the ‘narrative’ prepared to harm India, Jaishankar said that the battle of narrative is going on here. Along with this, he said that we have put forward narratives designed to expose people or to put forward our point of view.
