The Delhi government called an emergency meeting on Saturday on the issue of air pollution, in which four major steps have been announced. After the meeting, Arvind Kejriwal said that offline classes in Delhi schools will be closed for a week. Government offices will also remain closed for a week and employees will work from their homes. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that schools in Delhi will be operated with completely offline classes from Monday. The Delhi government’s decision came hours after the Supreme Court expressed displeasure over the ever-increasing pollution levels in Delhi and NCR. The CJI said that we need immediate control measures. If needed, think of a 2 day lockdown or something. Otherwise how will people live?

There is a need to work above politics and government. A bench of CJI NV Ramana, Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Surya Kant heard this petition.

In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had asked the central government to take immediate steps to check pollution. The court had also asked the Delhi government what steps have been taken to check pollution. Also said that the Delhi government should file an affidavit in the court. On this, the Delhi government said on Saturday that an affidavit is being prepared. The next hearing in the matter will be done by the Supreme Court on November 15. Along with this, the Supreme Court has also asked the Center to file the report of the emergency meeting.
