Students in India remain stranded inside their houses for over a year in the backdrop of coronavirus pandemic. Now that the second wave of the deadly disease continue to show declining trend, reopening of school has become a major possibility. Amid this students from Karnataka, Punjab, Bangalore, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have taken to Twitter to ask questions like ‘When will schools reopen in our state?’

Covid’s graph in the country is declining these days and states are expected to resume physical classes for students of schools and higher education institutions soon. Schools and colleges across the country were closed from March 2020 following a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of the corona virus. While some schools, colleges reopened in November 2020, many others resumed offline classes from February 2021, but were closed again after the second wave of Corona.

In the recent, the Yogi Adityanth government in Uttar Pradesh has allowed opening up of schools. The state government has said that schools for classes 1-8 will open from July 1. However, these schools will be opened only for administrative work. At the same time, the presence of teachers has been allowed as required.

The government has made it clear that the ban on the presence of students will continue till further orders. Instructions have also been given regarding what work will be done in the schools during this time. Free text books will be distributed to children in government schools this time as in the previous session. Online classes have also been suggested under e-Pathshala so that children do not suffer with their studies, so that they can study at home less than work.
