Shiromani Akali Dal targets Punjab Govt, says Congress discriminating against teachers

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) condemned the Congress-led government in Punjab for allegedly discriminating against teachers and forcing them to come to the street.

A statement issued by SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema, stated that it is shocking in the time of such crisis teachers' community role is to shape the future of the upcoming generations but they are being victimized by the state government.

"The state government should call the teachers' representatives and resolve all their issues immediately, failing which the SAD will also support the teachers in their demand for justice," Cheema said.

Further he said, "It is unfortunate that the Education Minister has pushed the teachers against a wall by refusing to meet them due to which they have been forced to hold rallies in all major cities of the state."

Cheema also demanded that the government should restart pension to the teachers which was stopped back in January 2004.
