Shraddha Walkar Case: Delhi Court Directs Framing Murder Charges Against Aftab, Trial Begins On June 1

Shraddha Walkar Case: Aftab Amin Poonawala is the subject of accusations under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code, according to the Saket court in Delhi.

Aftab, the accused, reportedly disputed the allegations and demanded a trial in the matter, according to ANI. On June 1, when the prosecution’s evidence will be recorded, the matter has been set for hearing. Aftab is charged with killing and dismembering his live-in lover Shraddha Walker.

The Saket Court ruled after hearing all of the arguments that the Delhi Police had provided adequate evidence and that Aftab had, at the very least, established a case of murder (302) and evidence destruction.

The hearing was previously adjourned on April 29 by Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar, who noted that the pertinent judge was on leave.

The hearing for Walkar’s father’s request that the woman’s remains be given to the family for final rites be handed over was adjourned till May 9.

Further Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar had reserved the order for April 29 on April 15 after hearing arguments from the prosecution’s attorneys and the accused over the nature of the charges.

According to PTI, Delhi Police charged the accused on January 24 with Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing the loss of evidence of an offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and filed a 6,629-page charge sheet.
