Snowfall Update: The picturesque hills of North India are bracing themselves for another round of precipitation, including both rain and snow, which is expected to commence from today. The previous round of inclement weather brought with it ample amounts of rainfall and snowfall, but also presented challenges for travel and mobility.
When will snowfall reach its peak?
A new Western Disturbance is predicted to make its way towards the Western Himalayas, signalling the start of the second round of rain and snow. The weather is expected to reach its peak on January 29th, before gradually subsiding on January 30th and ultimately clearing up by January 31st.
The upcoming spell is anticipated to be more intense than the previous one and will have a broader impact across the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Ladakh.
It is likely that popular tourist destinations such as Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Manali, Shimla, and Mussoorie will experience snowfall, along with the revered pilgrimage sites of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Hemkund, and the Vaishno Devi Temple. The snowfall will not only make the places look more beautiful but also will affect the locals livelihoods and the tourism industry.
Authorities alerted for more cautions
As a result of this spell of rain and snow, travellers should be prepared for possible road closures, landslides, and flight delays. Additionally, there is a risk of avalanches following the snowfall. It is highly recommended that people should stay updated with the weather forecast and plan their travels accordingly. The authorities have been alerted and necessary measures have been taken to tackle any emergency situation that might arise due to this weather system.
