Constitution Day 2024: India marks its 75th Constitution Day on November 26, 2024, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution. The government has planned special events to honor this milestone, including the release of a commemorative coin and postal stamp. Additionally, a dedicated website will be launched, offering resources to learn about the Constitution in various languages.

President Droupadi Murmu will address the joint session of Parliament, with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and several governors in attendance. Other initiatives include the release of Sanskrit copies of the Constitution and a booklet dedicated to the art of legislation.
Opposition Voices Demand Equal Platform
While the government’s initiatives aim to celebrate the Constitution’s legacy, opposition leaders have expressed discontent. They are demanding an opportunity for leaders of both Houses—Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha—to address the session. The government, however, maintains that the platform will feature speeches solely from the President, Vice President, and Speaker.
The Constitution, symbolizing unity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh, continues to inspire discussions on the role of democracy and representation, even as India celebrates this historic day.
