Stonework at Ram Mandir will start in December

The stonework at the Ram Mandir here will start in December, the temple trust said on Monday, June 7, 2021.

On November 9, 2019, the Supreme Court settled the fractious issue going back more than a century and backed the construction of a Ram temple by a trust at the disputed site.

“In December, the work on base plinth will start with pink stones of Mirzapur and an order has been placed. The stones will be cut and shaped in the premises of Ram Janmabhoomi,” Anil Mishra, Trustee of Ram Mandir Trust told PTI.

About 50 layers of 10-inch thick mixture of building material will be laid in about 50-feet deep foundation measuring 400 feet long and 300 feet wide, he said.

Grand entry gates called ‘Ram Dwars’, flanked by gardens will come up at all the entry points in Ayodhya soon. The gardens flanking the ‘Ram Dwars’ will be called ‘Ramayan Vatika’. Vice-chairman of Ayodhya Development Authority, Vishal Singh, said, “There are six entry points in Ayodhya. Grand gates or Ram Dwars will be constructed at all entry points to give a grand religious look to Ayodhya town. Gardens based on Ramayana stories will also be developed.”

The initiative is a part of a plan to transform the holy city from a small town to a new city, equipped with modern facilities that are befitting a seat of culture.

On August 5, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and performed the Bhumi Pujan for the long-yearned for Ram Mandir. While addressing the people the PM talked about the ‘Ram Mandir dream’ for which people have fought for centuries. PM Modi said that the Ram Mandir struggle was a result of the efforts of many generations. He added said that the Bhoomi Pujan was a ‘symbol of the resolution of crores of people’ loudly chanting ‘Jai Siya Ram’ – a soft deviation from the usual ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
