Late on Tuesday evening, strong earthquake tremors lasting for several seconds were felt in Delhi and neighboring cities. People in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and other cities reported feeling the tremors. Many people rushed out of their homes and buildings in panic, while others took to social media to share their experiences. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, but the earthquake has left many shaken and concerned about the possibility of aftershocks.
The epicenter located 90 km from Kalafgan in Afghanistan
The tremors that were felt in Delhi and other parts of North India on Tuesday night have been attributed to a strong 6.6 magnitude earthquake that struck Afghanistan. National Center for Seismology told, "Earthquake of Magnitude:6.6, Occurred on 21-03-2023, 22:17:27 IST, Lat: 36.09 & Long: 71.35, Depth: 156 Km ,Location: 133km SSE of Fayzabad, Afghanistan".
Initial reports indicate that the tremors were felt across a wide area, including India, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
No casualties are reported
The impact of the earthquake was particularly felt in Delhi and its surrounding areas, with people running out of their homes and offices as the buildings began to shake. The tremors lasted for several seconds, causing widespread panic and concern. While there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage, the earthquake has left many shaken and concerned about the possibility of aftershocks.
