Amid the ongoing Corona crisis in the country, the Supreme Court has taken a big action on Saturday and formed a task force for the distribution of oxygen and medicines. From now on, this task force will take over the responsibility of distribution of oxygen and medicines to the states and union territories.
The National Task Force will also work to assess and monitor the availability and supply of oxygen in the country.
In the wake of the Corona pandemic, most of the states of the country are going through a severe shortage of oxygen and essential medicines.
In such a situation, the Supreme Court has been keeping an eye on this crisis for the last several days and on Saturday finally it gave its verdict.
The Supreme Court has constituted a 12-member National Task Force for the allocation of oxygen and essential medicines to the states.
The Supreme Court said that the formation of this task force will help in finding input for the current problems and getting input to the decision-makers.
The Supreme Court stated that the task force will provide input and strategy to meet the challenges of the epidemic on a transparent and professional basis for the present and the future.
Earlier, the Supreme Court on Friday asked the Center to supply 700 metric tonnes of liquid therapeutic oxygen (LMO) daily to Delhi for treatment of Covid-19 patients till further orders. A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud noted the Delhi government’s plea on reduction of medical oxygen supply in the national capital and cautioned that if 700 metric tonnes of LMOs were not supplied daily, it would pass an order against the authorities concerned .
The Audit Committee for Delhi has been set up by the Supreme Court. The committee will have AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria, Max Hospital doctor Sandeep Budhiraja and two IAS officers.
