Supreme Court: Live Streaming of Three Separate Constitution Bench Cases Today

Supreme Court: The Supreme Court will start live streaming three different constitutional benches starting today, September 27, in a historic move. The action will advance the Supreme Court’s pursuit of transparency.

The live streaming of constitutional bench cases would start from the NIC platform rather than YouTube or any other platform in a few days, according to officials connected with this project. Officials did, however, reveal that the Supreme Court is planning to have its own OTT in the future, similar to the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which is also in the planning stages.

The Supreme Court would establish its own portal for live broadcasting reasons.

Chief Justice U U Lalit expressed a similar opinion during one of the hearings, stating that the Supreme Court would establish its own portal for live broadcasting reasons.

For three to four days, the first three courts broadcast live video of their proceedings, which were captured and distributed to staff members for evaluation.

According to officials, the live feed will be postponed for 30 seconds following standard practise.

The Supreme Court decided to webcast all Constitution Bench hearings beginning on September 27 at a full court session presided over by the Chief Justice of India on September 20.
The ruling was rendered over four years after the supreme court deemed live broadcasting of the proceedings to be “need of the hour” and ruled in its favour.
