Tamil Nadu: A 38-year-old man strangled his wife to death by strangling her with her scarf on Sunday night. She was wasting too much time on social media sites creating reels, which infuriated him. The man has been taken into custody after the incident in Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur district.
Amirthalingam, a 38-year-old married man from Dindugal, resided in Sellam Nagar in Tiruupur. He was an employee of the Thennam Palayam vegetable market, earning a daily pay.
His wife Chithra had a habit of publishing reels on TikTok and Instagram. She worked at a clothing industry. Amirthalingam and Chithra have argued numerous times about her propensity for posting reels and how much time she was devoting to them.

After gaining more contacts and following, Chithra made the decision to pursue an acting profession. Two months prior, she had gone for Chennai. On Instagram, she had 33.3K followers.
She then went back to be at her daughter's wedding last week. She was about to depart for Chennai after the incident, but Amirthalingam forbade her from doing so.
On Sunday night, there apparently was a fight over Chithra's propensity for posting reels and her desire to act in motion pictures. When things got heated, Amirthalingam choked Chithra with her scarf. Amirthalingam terrified and ran out of the house as she passed out. He confessed to hitting Chithra to his daughter.
