Counting of votes was started at 8 AM with strict COVID protocol in place. While both Dravidian parties DMK and AIADMK fought well in the election. But there were a lot of expectations from the ruling AIADMK, who was in an alliance with the BJP.
PM Modi also tweeted and congratulated party chief MK Stalin for their win.
"Congratulations to Thiru @mkstalin and @arivalayam for the victory in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. We shall work together for enhancing national progress, fulfilling regional aspirations and defeating the COVID-19 pandemic," PM Modi tweeted.

In the recent past, there were a lot of differences between AIADMK and the BJP, the ruling alliance government with AIADMK in the majority had also detained the state BJP president and were against the Vetrivel Yatra which was supported strongly by BJP.
While, as of now the election commission had confirmed that DMK is leading in 128 seats while AIADMK just has 72 seats with them.
On the other hand Kamala Hassan's party MNM got just a single seat.
