The tremors of the earthquake were felt in Assam’s Tezpur. The intensity of the tremor, which occurred at 7:51 am on Wednesday morning, was measured 6.4 on the Richter scale.
The shock was so severe that it was felt from neighboring Arunachal Pradesh to the northern part of West Bengal and Bihar.
The epicenter of this earthquake was Sonitpur and the earthquake struck at a depth of 17 km at 7.51 am.
According to the news agency PTI, there have been no reports of loss of life or property. According to officials, three earthquake tremors were felt one after another in Assam of which the 6.4 magnitude earthquake was the fastest.
These sharp tremors were felt in Meghalaya and South Bengal along with Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on the strong earthquake in Assam that there has been a big earthquake in Assam. I pray for the good of all and urge everyone to be vigilant.
He said that I am taking updates from all the districts regarding this.
After the earthquake tremors, pictures of damage from Assam have begun to appear. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared two photos. It shows the damage caused by the sharp earthquake.
In the pictures, the walls of the house are broken and are seen falling on the ground.
