Several significant nuclear and non-nuclear states signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, pledging to work together to stop the spread of nuclear technology.
Pokhran Test: On May 11, 1998, the Nuclear Test II was carried out on Pokhran territory. India demonstrated to the world that it is prepared to battle its enemies by carrying out three nuclear tests close to the Khetolai hamlet in the Pokhran Field Firing Range. Operation Shakti was the name of the nuclear test that was carried out in Pokhran on May 11, 1998.
