Tripura Polls: Transgender voters caste vote, high enthusiasm, says EC spokesperson

Tripura Polls: The voting for the Tripura Assembly election is underway amid tight security. In the northeastern state, Congress and CPI-M have joined hands to take on the mighty Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from power.

According to the latest data shared by the Election Commission, West Tripura recorded 14.56 per cent voting till 9 am, while Dhalai saw 13.62 per cent, Gomati 12.99 per cent, Khowai 13.08 per cent, North Tripura 12.79 per cent, Sepahijala 13.61 per cent, Unakoti 13.34 per cent and South Tripura 14.34 per cent.

PM Modi urges voters turn up in ‘record numbers’

Ahead of the polling, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged voters to turn up in ‘record numbers’. Calling on the youth of the northeastern state to exercise their franchise in the Assembly elections, PM Modi asked for strengthening of the festival of democracy. 

CM Manik Saha, turned up early for voting and after casting his vote, he said, “It feels good. I urge all voters to cast their vote.”

“I have cast my vote at Tulsibati School under 8-Town Bordowali constituency. My appeal to all voters of Tripura is to participate in the festival of democracy & exercise their democratic rights to build “Unnat Tripura, Shrestha Tripura”,” Tripura CM Manik Saha said.

‘High Voter Enthusiasm’

“High Voter enthusiasm #TripuraElections2023 indicates peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the State for conduct of polls under the aegis of Election Commission of India. Adequate security forces made available to instil a sense of confidence among voters,” Election Commission of India, spokesperson said.

Arunachal CM urges to ‘vote peacefully’ 

“Tripura is voting today. In this festival of democracy, I urge everyone to come out of their homes and exercise their franchise. Vote peacefully for a strong and vibrant democracy”: Pema Khandu, chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh

Transgender voters caste vote

“Transgender voters casted their vote in 13-Pratapgarh AC, Aralia, West #Tripura District in Tripura Assembly Election -2023. No voter to be left behind,” tweeted CEO, Tripura.
