In Bihar’s Bhagalpur, a bridge under construction collapsed on Sunday. A horrifying video of this accident has come to the fore. According to the initial information, there was no loss of life or property in the accident, but due to the collapse of the bridge, there was panic on the spot. However, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the incident and asked to identify those responsible.
The video of the collapse of the bridge being built between Khagaria-Aguwani-Sultanganj has come to the fore. In no time, the entire bridge got immersed in the river Ganges. The surprising thing is that even two years ago a part of this bridge had collapsed. CM Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation stone of this bridge 4 years ago.
It is being told that this bridge was being built at a cost of 1717 crores. Some part of this under-construction bridge was also damaged due to the storm in April. The middle part of the Mahasetu being built on the river Ganges between Khagaria-Aguwani-Sultanganj collapsed. The upper part of the bridge is immersed in the river.
It is visible in the video that the super structure of the bridge under construction has collapsed. However, the reason for the collapse of the bridge is not yet clear. It is being told that the structure built on top of the three pillars of the bridge collapsed. This bridge being built in Sultanganj of Bhagalpur will connect Khagaria and Bhagalpur.
DDC Bhagalpur Kumar Anurag said that the incident of collapse of the under-construction bridge took place at around 6 am. No casualty has been reported so far. Local administration is on the spot. We have sought a report from ‘Pul Nirman Nigam’.
JDU MLA said – action will be taken against the culprits
JDU MLA Lalit Mandal said that this incident is unfortunate. We were expecting that this bridge would be inaugurated in November-December this year, but such accidents are happening, it is a matter of investigation. Strict action will be taken against the culprits. He said that until its inquiry is done, it is difficult to say anything.
Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar targeted the government
On the collapse of the under-construction bridge, Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Sinha said that another new form of zero tolerance on corruption of the Bihar government has come to the fore. He said that the bridge costing 600-700 crores in 2014 has reached the cost of about 1600 crores. He said that money is being recovered through high officials in the matter of commission. There should be a judicial inquiry into this. The people of Bihar will never forgive this.
