Giriraj Singh: On Friday, Union Minister Giriraj Singh described Nathuram Godse as a “saput” (good son) of India and claimed that because Godse was born in India, he was not an outsider like Mughal emperors Babar and Aurangzeb. The fiery BJP leader from Bihar is in the Bastar area for a two-day tour to interact with party members and leaders.
Union Minister Questions Lineage Pride in Light of Recent Events
Speaking to reporters in Dantewada, Bastar, Singh claimed that individuals who take pride in identifying as the offspring of Babar and Aurangzeb cannot be the real sons of mother India. Following recent violence in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, as a result of a protest by Hindutva organisations against some social media posts supposedly honouring Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan, the politics surrounding the 17th-century Mughal emperor became more heated. While Devendra Fadnavis, the home minister for Maharashtra, pleaded for peace, he justified the aggression by claiming that “there is bound to be a reaction if Aurangzeb is glorified.” Additionally, he stated that “suddenly, in some districts of Maharashtra, aulad (progenies) of Aurangzeb took birth.”
Union Minister Counters Owaisi’s Challenge and Accuses Chhattisgarh Congress of Religious Conversion and Terrorism
Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, rebutted Fadnavis, saying he was unaware the BJP official was “such an expert,” and he urged him to “call out the offspring” of Godse. Singh responded, “If he (Godse) was the killer of Gandhi, he (Godse) was also a saput of India,” when questioned about Owaisi’s comments. He was a native of India. In contrast to Babar and Aurangzeb, he was not an invader. Additionally, Singh charged that the Chhattisgarh Congress administration, which is led by Bhupesh Baghel, fostered religious conversion and propagated terrorism. “In the state, a conspiracy is converting both tribal and non-tribal people. A strict rule against conversion will be passed once the BJP is elected to power in the state,” he claimed.
Union Minister Accuses Chhattisgarh Congress and Faces Backlash from Opposition
The Union minister accused the state’s Congress administration of misusing funds provided to Chhattisgarh as part of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA). “Whoever is syphoning off MNREGA funds will have to face investigation and they will be punished, whether it be the chief minister or others,” he stated. In response to Singh’s remark, Congress claimed that the BJP leader was well-known for his “nonsense statements.” He and the BJP are disappointed that they will not win the next election. He is renowned for espousing hatred in addition to making senseless statements. He needs to learn how to act in a democratic society. His party is significantly losing the next elections, which is why Gandhi became irritated after visiting Chhattisgarh, according to Congress spokesperson RP Singh.
