UP to provide free COVID-19 vaccines to journalists and their families

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced to provide free COVID-19 vaccines to journalists and their families.

CM Yogi Adityanath also decided that a separate vaccination centre will be set for journalists at cabinet meeting.

Yogi government also announced to set up COVID-19 vaccination centres inside media houses.

“CM Yogi Adityanath has said that media professionals should be given priority in COVID-19 vaccination, separate centers should be made for them and their family members above 18 years of age should also be given vaccine for free,” the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said, as reported by news agency ANI.

UP has so far given the first dose of coronavirus vaccine to over 1.03 crore people, of which, 23.76 lakh people have also received the second dose.

Besides UP, several other states have also declared journalists as frontline workers for their services to the nation amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Earlier in the day, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief MK Stalin, who is about to become the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu, also said that journalists will be declared as frontline workers.
