Utkal Diwas: Know history, PM also congratulated

In Odisha, India, people of Odisha’s history are remembered for their huge contribution and sacrifice to take Odisha forward and succeed. This day is celebrated as Utkal Diwas / Odisha Day.

Utkal day is not only celebrated in different states of India but it is also celebrated in other countries where the people of Odisha live.

On 1 April 1936, Orissa was declared as a separate state. In celebration of this, Utkal Day is celebrated every year on 1 April with great joy.

Orissa became the constituent state of India in 1950. Later in the year 2011, the Constitution of Orissa was amended in the name of Orissa to Odisha. Also, the language Oriya was also changed to the name Oriya to Odia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of Odisha on Utkal Day and wished them happiness and good health on the occasion. Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to all on the special occasion of Utkal Day. I bow to the unique culture of Odisha. The people of the state have contributed significantly to the progress of India. Wish him happiness and good health. ‘

Here, apart from the Prime Minister, President Ramnath Kovind also congratulated the people of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Day. He said in a tweet, “Congratulations to everyone, especially the people of Odisha, on Utkal Day. The country is proud of the unique cultural heritage, natural beauty, architecture, hand art and dance art of this land, which gives eternal message of love and peace to humanity. The President further wrote, ‘My best wishes for the continued development of Odisha.’
