Rajiv Gandhi assassination case: The Supreme Court freed Rajiv Gandhi assassin Ravichandran, who claimed that people in North India should view them as victims rather than terrorists or murderers.

"But time will judge us as innocent, even if we bear the blame for being terrorists," Ravichandran
"People of North India should see us as victims instead of terrorist or killer. Time and power determine who is a terrorist or a freedom fighter," ANI news agency cited Ravichandran as saying.
After decades in prison, Ravichandran declared, "But time will judge us as innocent, even if we bear the blame for being terrorists."
After ruling that all six of them are considered to have served their sentences in relation to the crime, the top court released Ravichandran, Nalini Sriharan, and other prisoners.

Ravichandran's statement
Ravichandran stated to the sources that they had not committed any crimes that warranted the death penalty, "We have done some things out of Tamil pride and for the Tamil movement. But we are not the ones involved in this conspiracy for the murder of the former PM. We have not done anything wrong for a life sentence or a death sentence."
The Supreme Court had ordered the release of Perarivalan, who had served more than 30 years in prison, on May 18 of this year by invoking its extraordinary jurisdiction under Article 142 of the Constitution. The top court declared on Friday that all other offenders are equally subject to its prior order.
On May 21, 1991, a female suicide bomber by the name of Dhanu killed former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi during a political gathering in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
