Viral Video: BJP Councillor Travels in Inflatable Boat on Delhi Roads as Rain Wreaks Havoc; Floods, Flight and Traffic Chaos All Around

Viral Video: Parts of the Delhi-NCR had intense rain on Friday, severely impairing daily activities and resulting in the cessation of flights at Delhi airport's Terminal 1. A section of Terminal 1's roof fell in the pouring rain, killing one passenger. One of the wettest stretches Delhi has seen this year saw 150 mm of rain fall in three hours, from 2.30 am to 5.30 am. In the last 24 hours, 228 mm of rain were reported at Safdarjung, the city's primary observatory.

Accusations Against Delhi Administration

BJP Councillor Ravinder Singh Negi, in the meantime, rowed an inflatable boat in a symbolic protest against the Delhi administration, accusing it of not being ready for the monsoon. Flooded Homes in Low-Lying Areas

As a precaution, all departures from the terminal have been temporarily halted, and check-in counters are locked, according to officials. Since midnight, sixteen flights have been canceled, twelve of which are arriving.

Widespread Flooding in Key Areas

Numerous locations had diversions issued by traffic police. Police recommended commuters to seek alternate routes due to flooding on several important highways, including the Delhi Meerut Highway, the Naraina-Moti Bagh road near the Dhaula Kuan Flyover, the Vir Banda Bairagi Marg at the Azad Market underpass, the Tilak Bridge, the Aurobindo Marg, the Anuvrat Marg, the ITO, and numerous roads going to AIIMS. During the morning rush hour, numerous cars were observed becoming trapped on waterlogged roadways and underpasses around the city.

Delhi Metro Services Disrupted

There are numerous areas that are flooded, including Mathrua Road, Teen Murti Marg, Moolchand, Minto Road, Anand Vihar, Mehrauli Badarpur Road, Mandawali, Bhikaji Cama Place, Madhu Vihar, Pragati Maidan, Munirka, Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh, ITO, and a few sectors in the Noida area. Water seeped into homes in South East Delhi's Chittaranjan Park, causing damage to furniture and other household goods.

The intense rains also had an impact on Delhi Metro service operations. Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector - 25 Metro station's entry and exit gates have been stopped, and the shuttle service between Delhi Aerocity Metro station and Terminal 1-IGI Airport has been halted, according to Metro officials.
