Water level in Ganga crosses danger mark in UP

In Prayagraj, on the third day, both Ganga and Yamuna are flowing above the danger mark (Ganga-Yamuna). The water level of both the rivers has reached almost one meter above the danger mark. The Ganges River is flowing 103 cm and the Yamuna River 99 cm above it.

Both the rivers had touched the danger mark on Friday, August 26, around 10 am. Since then, it is continuously flowing above the danger mark. The process of increasing the water level of the rivers is still going on. Both the rivers are growing at a speed of two to three centimeters per hour.

It is believed that their water level may increase further for the next two days. Due to this, even today, the water of flood has entered in many localities.

About 50 localities of the urban area are affected by the flood and an equal number of villages have also been flooded. So far about five and a half thousand people have taken shelter in the flood relief camps. Because, the situation in Prayagraj is getting worse due to the floods.

Rescue of people being done through boats

At the same time, teams of NDRF and SDRF are constantly engaged in relief and rescue work. The team is evacuating people safely by going to the flood-prone areas with promptness and rescuing them. People are being rescued and taken out through boats. One floor of many houses has been submerged. Many roads and roads have been submerged in the flood waters. Even boats are plying in the streets and alleys.
