Weather Update: According to IMD, from January 8 to 9, dense to extremely dense fog conditions are expected to predominate during the night and morning hours in certain areas of Punjab and in a few isolated pockets of Haryana and Chandigarh. For the next day, there will be dense fog in a few isolated pockets. On January 8, dense to very dense fog conditions are likely to persist for a few hours in the morning in some areas of West Uttar Pradesh and in isolated pockets over Bihar. For the next two days, there may also be dense fog in isolated pockets. It is highly probable that isolated pockets of dense fog will persist for a few hours in the morning over East Uttar Pradesh from January 8 to 10; over Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, & Meghalaya, Mizoram & Tripura on January 8 and 9; and over north Rajasthan from January 8 to 12.

Over the next four to five days, the IMD predicts that there will likely be light to moderate rainfall in some areas of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Lakshadweep. It is very likely that there will be isolated, heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu on January 8–10, over Kerala on January 8–10, and over Andhra Pradesh on January 8. On January 8, there's also a good chance of isolated, extremely heavy rainfall over the Tamil Nadu coast. On January 8, severe cold day conditions are probably going to persist in some areas over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. On January 8, there may also be isolated pockets of cold day conditions over Rajasthan.
