Weather Update: Coldwave to intensify in Punjab, IMD predicts major shift in weather, complete forecast here

Weather Update: The minimum temperature is consistently falling across a number of states in northern India, including the capital city of Delhi. The winter has gotten worse since the snowfall in the hilly states is also having an impact on the plains. Punjab will see a cold wave that will last for three days starting today, according to the Meteorological Department (IMD). A rise will be noted in the winter as a result.

There will probably be an upsurge in the number of cold outbreaks in the coming days over most of the nation. In Northwest India, the minimum temperature may drop by two to four degrees Celsius during the course of the next two days, according to the Meteorological Department. The temperature won't vary significantly again for a few days following that, though.

Delhi

The national capital will continue to remain sunny in the day with fog affecting the natives in early mornings and late nights. However, IMD has predicted that the coldwave would soon start showing its true nature. For today, the maximum temperature will be 23 degrees while the minimum will be 9 degrees.

Mumbai

The city and its suburbs will get a relief today as the cloud cover will significantly be lower in comparision to the previous days. Apart from that, no significant change is predicted today. The maximum temperature will be 32 degrees and minimum will be 26 degrees.

Chennai

Chennai will remain partly cloudy and will have a pleasant weather. However, as per the weather agency IMD, the rains will lash the city from next week. The impact of rains will be much more significant as the week proceeds. For today, the maximum temperature will be 28 degrees while the minimum will be 23 degrees.

Kolkata

IMD predicts that Kolkata will remain pleasant and have a sunny sky rather than cloudy. Humidity too would continue to remain at 45%. For today, the maximum temperature will be 28 degrees and minimum will be 16 degrees.

Which of the state will see a change in weather?

In various parts of Punjab, a cold wave is expected to develop between December 15 and December 17, 2022, according to the Meteorological Department.

Over the next 4-5 days, it's unlikely that the minimum temperatures will shift significantly across the rest of the nation. On the other side, there have been several locations in the southern states where rain has been forecast.
